‘Patrick’ 2013. I met Patrick in Accra a week before he was due to leave for a fight in London. He’d trained hard for three months and I had total respect for the way he’d committed and conducted himself over that time. He was in prime shape for the fight and I’m absolutely sure he would have won…if his visa application had not be turned down. I felt so bad for him when he found out, all that effort and money for nothing. The remarkable aspect about Patrick was his calmness throughout, an aspect that not many would attribute to a boxers mentality.
